Where is Dock Beach?

Dock Beach is in the Royal Docks, in East London. The beach is located close to the Emirates Cable Car on the embankment of Royal Victoria Dock next to The Crystal. We’re only a short walk away from Royal Victoria DLR station.

 

What time does Dock Beach open and close?

Core hours are 10am to 6pm everyday.

Hours will be extended to 9pm on

• Friday 3 & Saturday 4 August
• Friday 10 & Saturday 11 August
• Friday 17 & Saturday 18 August
• Friday 24 & Saturday 25 & Sunday 26 August (Bank Holiday Weekend)

 

What are the rules of Dock Beach and Pool?

General Rules:

  • Bikes and scooters will not be permitted on site. Public bike racks are provided nearby.

  • You must look after your own valuables on site.

  • No glass.

  • Security reserve the right to search any member of the public.

  • No dogs, except assistance dogs.

  • No weapons.

  • Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.

  • Large non-family groups may be refused entry.

  • Anyone exhibiting unruly behaviour will be asked to leave.

  • Anyone suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be prohibited from entering the event.

  • At peak times the event will operate a one in one out policy

  • We reserve the right to refuse admission

Specifically in the Dock Pool:

  • No bombing or throwing in

  • No running

  • No diving

  • No under 12s

  • Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult (over 16 years). No more than two under 16’s to each competent adult swimmer.

  • To use the Dock Pool, you must be a competent swimmer, able to swim 25 metres.

  • Wearing water shoes is recommended as the dock floor is uneven and jagged.

  • After swimming please use the showers to rinse off.

  • Do not swallow Dock Pool water.

  • Anyone suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be prohibited from entering the Dock Pool.

  • At peak times Dock Pool will operate a one in one out policy

  • Lifeguards are responsible for enforcing safety rules and responding to emergencies. Parents or guardians must supervise under 16’s at all times.

  • No food & drink in the Dock Pool area

  • We reserve the right to refuse admission

Specifically in the Paddling Pool:

  • Under 12’s only

  • Children must be supervised at all times

  • All children in nappies must wear waterproof nappies.

  • Do not swallow water

 

What if it rains or the weather is bad?

In adverse weather conditions the Dock Pool and Paddling Pool will be closed. Please check @yourroyaldocks for updates.

 

Can we buy food inside?

The beach Snack Shack will have a selection of snacks and drinks to buy.

 

Are picnics or BBQs allowed?

Yes picnics are allowed but no BBQs.

 

Do I have to be a competent swimmer to swim in Dock Pool?

Yes, you must be able to swim 25m and be confident in the water. At its deepest point the Dock Pool is approximately 2m deep. A lifeguard will be present at all times. We ask all swimmers to adhere to the Dock Pool rules.

 

Is there an age restriction to use Dock Pool

No there is not an age restriction however under 16s must be accompanied by an adult (over 18 years). No more than two under 16’s to each competent adult swimmer.

 

Do you have showers?

Yes rinse showers are provided and we recommend that everyone rinses after swimming in Dock Pool. Please note that no products or soap can be used in the showers.

 

Are there any fish or animals in the dock?

It is a river water dock and there are fish and other water related animals.

 

Are there any lockers?

There are no lockers available.

 

Are pets allowed?

No pets are allowed in Dock Beach except assistance dogs.

 

What security measures do you have in place?

We have security at Dock Beach 24/7.

 

Is there parking available?

There isn’t any on-site parking for Dock Beach.We recommend traveling by public transport please visit https://tfl.gov.uk/plan-a-journey/ to help plan your journey.

 

Arriving by bicycle?

There is a bike shed located next to The Crystal building on Siemens Brothers Way.

 

Is Dock Beach wheelchair accessible?

Dock Beach is both wheelchair and pushchair friendly with accessible toilets. However, the Dock Pool does not have any wheelchair access equipment. Please note that there isn’t any on site parking. Can we book the beach for a corporate event?

Dock Beach cannot be booked for corporate events.
