1. Learn Lifesaving Skills with SwimSafe (Ages 7-14)
SwimSafe helps children build confidence in and around open water while learning essential safety skills. Part of Royal Docks Summer Splash, the free sessions teach children how to float, recognise hazards and signal for help. Book a free SwimSafe session.

2. Enjoy Free Outdoor Performances
Enjoy a vibrant programme of free circus, dance, physical theatre and live music as Certain Blacks Ensemble Festival 2026 transforms the Royal Docks into an open-air stage. Expect spectacular performances, creative energy and family-friendly entertainment around City Hall in Royal Victoria.
3. Watch Sporting Action Up Close
The Royal Docks is hosting some of the summer's biggest sporting events. Watch elite climbers tackle a spectacular climbing wall suspended above the dock at the North Face Climb Festival, experience the excitement of the London T100 Triathlon, or catch the season finale of the Formula E 2026 Hankook London E-Prix at Excel London.
4. Ride the London Cable Car
Take in panoramic views of the Thames, the Royal Docks, Canary Wharf and The O2 on one of London's most unique journeys. Residents living in eligible Newham and Greenwich postcodes can benefit from discounted fares by showing proof of address. Plan your journey on the London Cable Car.

5. Explore Thames Barrier Park
Enjoy open green space, riverside walks and views of the iconic Thames Barrier at one of the UK's best parks, recently awarded its 9th consecutive Green Flag. Thames Barrier Park is the perfect spot for a family picnic, a leisurely stroll or simply enjoying the cool river breeze. Visitors can also stop by With Milk, an independent café in the heart of the park serving speciality coffee, ice cream, cakes and light bites.

Turn your visit into an outdoor art trail and discover some of the Royal Docks‘ most distinctive public artworks. 7. Get Creative in Royal Albert Wharf
Join the free Saturday Kids Club at Art in the Docks, where children can explore painting, drawing, sculpture, collage and mixed-media activities. Families can also take part in the free Wharfside Watercolour and Summer Picnic workshop with local artist, Annamaria Antonazzo.
8. Join Brick Lane Music Hall's Summer School
Children aged 8-14 can learn singing, dancing and acting from West End performers before taking part in a live performance. Residents of Newham and Greenwich can receive a discount by showing proof of address. Book a place on the Summer School.
9. Explore Immersive Adventures at Immerse LDN
Immerse LDN is home to a range of interactive experiences that bring stories to life through technology, art and imagination. This summer, families can step inside House of Dreamers, explore ancient civilisations in Timewalk, and discover immersive experiences on the Royal Docks waterfront.
10. Try Outrigging on the Water (Ages 14+)
Teenagers aged 14 and over can try outrigging, a team paddling sport in long, narrow canoes. The first session is free, making it a great opportunity to learn something new and get active on the water. Register for a free session.
