Become a Local Champion
As part of the regeneration of North Woolwich, Newham Council is inviting local residents to help shape a shared vision for the area by identifying opportunities for physical improvements and community-focused activities.
Newham is looking for four North Woolwich residents to become Local Champions - friendly faces who want to:
- Talk with local residents
- Share ideas with the project team
- Help test small projects that make a difference
No previous experience is required as training and support will be provided.
What you'll do:
As a Local Champion, you’ll help:
- Spread the word!
- Lend a hand at community events
- Come up with creative ideas for local spaces (new & existing)
- Plan and cost the ideas
Details:
- £14.80 an hour
- Up to 40 hours of paid work
- Between November 2025 - March 2026
- Learn new skills in community engagement, project planning, and teamwork
- Receive support and training with workshops, regular catch-ups, and all the materials you need to champion your neighbourhood.
The team are looking for lived experience, not shiny CVs! If you want to help develop a vision for your neighbourhood, they would love to hear from you.
