Counter Culture: Animation Workshop Celebrating Newham’s Corner Shops

Delve into the wonderful world of stop motion animation in this fun, interactive and practical workshop inspired by Newham’s legendary corner shops and their communities.

This workshop is aimed at children aged 8+ years, although families with younger children and sole adults may attend. All under 16s should have an adult present.

In part one of the workshop, you will be shown exclusive clips from our Counter Culture films, about three of Newham’s corner shops. Frames of Mind team, Bo and Zoe, will talk about the role of corner shops in our communities. From post war rationing to locked down living in recent times, how has this special relationship between customers and shopkeepers changed?

In part two of the workshop, you will be introduced to the magical world of stop frame animation using a free app.

Frames of Mind will teach you how to bring contents of your Counter Culture bags and your imaginations to life.
