Opening Up: Tate Institute
Book an architect-led tour of the Tate Institute
The Tate Institute is a net zero carbon, natural material, circular economy-led retrofit of a locally listed heritage building in the Royal Docks, Newham to provide a new community space for the area operated by ReSpace.
Opened in 1887 as a social club for employees of the Tate Sugar Refinery, this listed building is being transformed by ReSpace and Office S&M Architects. Thanks to the London Borough of Newham’s investment of Levelling Up funding, this much loved, local landmark will soon be restored to its former glory.
