The Living Archive: Self-Archiving Through Zine-Making

Join artist Ioana (Artizine) for a hands-on workshop exploring your personal stories and memories. You will use zine-making (DIY self-publishing) as a playful tool for self-archiving, viewing archives not as dusty boxes, but as something living, personal, and full of feeling.

This is your space to document your everyday experiences and reflections, exploring fundamental questions like: Can an archive truly be messy, handmade, or emotional? Your creation will help connect your personal stories to the rich local history of the Tate Institute.

No experience needed!

This event is part of the Living Archive project, a collaboration between artist Ioana Simion and the communities of REinsTate. It was commissioned through Culture Within Newham’s East London Creative Communities project.

Ioana Simion is an artist, educator and facilitator based in Forest Gate. She runs community workshops under the artistic identity of Artizine. Her socially-engaged practice explores the use of zine-making as a vehicle for encouraging individuals to share their stories, develop imaginative skills and practice well-being in a social setting.
