Windrush 2024 celebrations: dance workshop
Newham invites you to join celebrations for Windrush Day 2024. The event programme honours the rich Caribbean heritage and culture thriving in Newham, while also commemorating the historic arrival of HMT Empire Windrush in 1948.
Step & Praise Performing Arts are hosting Emerge: A Windrush Dance Workshop, taking place on Saturday, June 15th at Canning Town Library. Participants will learn traditional dance steps and simultaneously create art pieces inspired by the essence of Caribbean dance.
A Windrush Day Fair will take place at East Ham Town Hall on Saturday 22nd June (2-5pm). The event will feature local stalls, workshops, storytelling, live music, and Island Rhythms: A Windrush Showcase with Carroll Thompson.
