Wonderful Women of Newham

Join us on this weekend to take part in our new self-led walking trails Wonderful Women of Newham and meet some of the team behind this project as you set off on your walk covering either Canning Town, or the Royal Docks and Silvertown.

Trail one is a short, self-led trail with family activities which explores the area to the north of Canning Town Station. It highlights a selection of suffragettes and shopkeepers linked to that area in the 19th and 20th centuries. This trail takes approximately 45 minutes and activities are aimed at children aged 7-11+. Families with younger children can take part.

Trail two is a self-guided two hour trail of the Royal Docks and Silvertown exploring some of the hidden histories of the women who worked and lived in the area. This trail is more suitable for older children and adults

Wonderful Women of Newham walking trails have been researched and developed by the East End Women’s Museum for Newham Heritage Month.

Trails are available to download, or pick up a copy on the day from the team who have researched the walk at Canning Town Library.
