Community projects connect at Compressor House
More than 50 local residents, community leaders and project representatives came together at Big Fridge, Compressor House for a People Powered Places networking event, co-hosted by the Royal Docks Team and Newham Council's South Neighbourhoods team.
The event hosted successful projects from across Custom House & Canning Town, and Beckton & Royal Docks, alongside members of the programme’s Working Group, Youth Advisory Board, Newham Volunteering, and the Big Fridge.
A total of 42 successful projects were invited to attend, creating an opportunity for those involved in delivering community-led initiatives to connect, share experiences and explore opportunities for collaboration.
Held at the recently opened Big Fridge at Compressor House, the event provided a valuable space for participants to network, exchange ideas and discuss the progress and impact of their projects. Attendees heard about a range of support available to strengthen and grow their projects, from communications and marketing assistance to volunteering support and opportunities to connect with activity across the Royal Docks.
The session encouraged open conversations about the challenges and opportunities facing local projects, while helping strengthen connections between community groups working to make a positive difference in their neighbourhoods.
By bringing together projects from across the Royal Docks, the event showcased the breadth of community activity being delivered and highlighted the value of collaboration, shared learning and local leadership in creating stronger, more connected communities.
