Enjoy Spring Break and Easter Fun in the Royal Docks
Join the Young Scientists study
Calling all parents of 1, 4, or 7-year-olds! Join a study at the University of East London measuring your child’s brain activity, heart rate and eye movements in the lab and at home. Participants receive a £20 voucher. Email isey@uel.ac.uk to take part.
Book the Woodland Explorers Holiday Camp
Join a two-day drop-off outdoor adventure in Beckton District Park South for children aged 6 – 12, with bushcraft, nature crafts, games and free play led by a qualified Forest School leader. Taking place 30 – 31 March, 10am – 2pm (Newham residents only), children should bring a packed lunch and dress for all weather, with sessions held rain or shine. £25 per child.
Britannia Village Hall Easter celebration
Join the Fun: Free Community Events and Youth Holiday Scheme
Celebrate the season with free community events at Britannia Village Hall! Drop in for the Community Eid Celebration on Tuesday 31 March, 11am – 2pm and the Community Easter Celebration on Tuesday 7 April, 11am – 2pm. Both events are open to all, and no booking is required.
For 11–16 year olds, the free Youth Holiday Scheme Easter Programme runs from Tuesday 31 March – Thursday 2 April and Tuesday 7 April – Thursday 9 April, 2:30pm – 6:30pm. Attendees can enjoy activities such as roller skating, VR experiences, craft and baking workshops, tabletop games, football, and a bowling trip on the final day (activities are subject to change). Booking required.
The GOOD Eggslore – Easter Egg Decorating Workshop
Join the Art in the Docks team on Saturday 4 April for a free Easter egg decorating workshop across two venues. Children will discover the colourful Eastern European tradition of Ukrainian Pysanka eggs, using bright dyes and simple patterns to create your own designs.
Sessions:
- 10:20am – 12:30pm at Art in the Docks Gallery, 25 Shackleton Way, London, E16 2XJ
- 2:30pm – 5pm at Good Hotel London, Royal Victoria Dock, Western Gateway, E16 1FA. Plus enjoy 15% off lunch and rooftop refreshments available during this session.

Sign up for £1 NBA-coached basketball sessions
Young people aged 5 – 15 can train with professional coaches at Newham Leisure Centre for just £1 per session through NBA Court Time. The bargain classes run Thursdays and Sundays until April 2026 as part of the Mayor of London Basketball Taskforce, a groundbreaking initiative to grow the game of basketball in the capital. Booking is required via the Better app or website.
Soar across the Thames on the Cable Car
Take in breathtaking aerial views of London’s landmarks on the IFS Cloud Cable Car while traveling between the Royal Docks and Greenwich Peninsula. Children can enjoy extra fun with a £3.50 activity pack with games, activities and colouring. Residents living in local Newham and Greenwich postcodes can also claim discounted travel with proof of address.
Discover the Newham Citizen Science Fair
The Newham Citizen Science Fair is a free, hands-on event celebrating science, inventions, and community creativity. Take part in interactive exhibits and activities designed to inspire learning and innovation on Saturday 10 April, 10am – 4pm at the Royal Docks Centre for Sustainability.
Try Indoor Bouldering at Rise Climbing
Discover the fun of climbing together with Rise Climbing’s family intro sessions on Saturdays and Sundays. Adults can learn how to safely supervise children on the wall and entry, shoes, chalk, and 20–30 minutes of instruction are all included. Suitable for children 3+, with adults supervising one child (3 – 5) or two (6 – 14). Prices start from £30 for one adult and child and families are welcome to stay and climb after the session.
Hang out at a Youth Zone
Looking for a great place for teens to hang out and have fun? Look no further than Shipman Youth Zone and Beckton Youth Zone. The facilities include a pool table, arts and crafts, table tennis and a multi-purpose sports hall.
