Royal Docks Outriggers

Are you looking for a new challenge?

Do you like being on the water or have never tried before but want to give it a go?

How about trying Outrigging - the newest water sport in the Royal Docks.

Outrigging is a racing sport in which canoes with lateral floats, called outriggers, are fastened to the hull for racing or fun paddling. The sport is very popular in the Hawaiian islands and has recently come to the UK.

It is an ideal activity if you enjoy team sports and like meeting new people while getting fit at the same time!

Technique – for newbies, you would think the paddling motion is instigated by the arms, but it's actually not. The power comes from your lats (think upper back) and rotation of your torso (using your abs) to pull the paddle's blade through the water. This is what makes it such a good workout.

Come along and meet new people of all ages. No experience necessary!

The club is located at the London Regatta Centre.
