Explore the Royal Docks' Green Spaces
The Royal Docks is home to a diverse mix of parks, gardens and wildlife habitats. Whether you're looking for somewhere to walk, exercise, spot wildlife or simply relax outdoors, there are plenty of green spaces to explore.
Several of these parks, including Beckton District Park North and South, New Beckton Park and King George V Park, are also benefiting from improvements through Newham Council's Beckton Parks Masterplan, which is helping to enhance local facilities, improve accessibility and support biodiversity.
Beckton District Park North
Tollgate Rd, Beckton, E16 3SW
With football pitches, a basketball court, outdoor gym equipment and a children's playground, Beckton District Park North is a great place to get active outdoors. The park also includes a large lake, as well as areas of woodland, grassland and meadows. The Capital Ring walking route passes through the park, making it popular with walkers and cyclists.
Beckton District Park South
Stansfeld Road, Beckton, E6 5LT
From wildlife spotting and wildflower meadows to running, walking and community activities, Beckton District Park South offers something for everyone. The Beckton Corridor, which runs through the park, provides an important green link for walkers and visitors. The park is also home to Beckton 5K Parkrun and Will Thorne Pavilion, which is currently being refurbished to provide improved community facilities.
At its heart is Beckton Meadows, which features wildflower grassland, a butterfly garden and wooden sculptures, as well as Itchycoo Park, where a beautifully restored pond attracts parakeets, woodpeckers, terrapins and other wildlife.

Canning Town Recreation Ground

With open lawns, gardens, tennis courts and a large children's play area, Canning Town Recreation Ground is a popular local park with families. You'll also find a games pitch and an adventure playground with climbing frames and obstacle courses.
Keir Hardie Recreation Ground
Tarling Road, Canning Town, E16 1LQ
Recently refurbished as part of the regeneration of Canning Town, Keir Hardie Recreation Ground includes football pitches, a basketball court, outdoor gym equipment and a large children's play area. A mix of mature and newly planted trees make it a lovely space to exercise or unwind.
King George V Park
King George Avenue, Custom House, E16 3HR
With large open fields, a football pitch, a skate park, a floodlit games court and a children's adventure playground, King George V Park is a great place for sport, play and spending time outdoors with family and friends.
Lyle Park
Bradfield Road, Silvertown, E16 2AU
Set close to the Thames, Lyle Park offers open green space, tennis courts and river views. It's a lovely spot for a walk, a picnic or a quiet afternoon outdoors.
Thames Barrier Park

New Beckton Park has plenty to offer with outdoor fitness equipment, a tennis court, games court, playground and open grassy areas make it a great place to exercise, play or simply enjoy some fresh air.
Royal Victoria Gardens
1A Pier Road, North Woolwich, E16 2FH
Royal Victoria Gardens is one of the Royal Docks' oldest parks, having officially opened in 1890. The park combines riverside views, mature trees and tennis courts, providing a peaceful place to relax and enjoy the outdoors.
Thames Barrier Park
North Woolwich Road, Silvertown, E16 2HP
With its striking hedge maze, landscaped gardens and views of the Thames Barrier (voted London's most underrated tourist attraction by The Times), Thames Barrier Park is one of the Royal Docks' best-known green spaces. Stop by With Milk for a coffee or bite to eat while you explore. The park has also retained its Green Flag Award for nine consecutive years, recognising it as a healthy, welcoming space with strong community connections.
